Early Years Foundation Stage
At Bidbury Infant School, we greatly value the importance of the Early Years Foundation Stage in providing a secure foundation for Year 1 and beyond. Our Early Years curriculum has been developed in conjunction with the relevant DfE guidance and legislation to ensure that each child has a happy and positive start to their school life from which they can build a foundation for a love of learning. We ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. We promote teaching and learning to ensure children’s readiness for the next stage of their education and aim to give children a broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.
We seek to provide:
Our learning journeys are centered around a theme, through which we are able to provide opportunities for exploration within each of the seven areas of learning. Carefully planned progression builds on the children's previous learning and provides opportunities to focus on the needs of individual children. Learning is planned to ensure a careful balance between the children's interests, planned 'drops of knowledge', real-life experiences and learning through carefully selected books, visitors and off site visits. The learning journeys below show the breakdown of learning in each of these themes.
