Welcome to

Bidbury Infant School

Uniform

We wear our uniform with pride and thank you for supporting us by ensuring that your child comes to school every day wearing the correct school uniform and PE uniform.

All children should wear:

  • Plain red sweatshirt or cardigan.
  • White or red polo shirt.
  • Black or dark grey school trousers, shorts, skirt or pinafore dress.
  • In the summer term, red/white gingham check dress, playsuit or shorts.
  • Plain, white or grey socks.
  • Plain black, white, grey or red tights.
  • Black shoes, plain black flat ankle boots or plain black trainers (with black soles and no coloured logos or laces).
  • Plain, black sandals may be worn in summer but these must have closed toes, a back and a solid sole.
  • The children in Year R will be learning outside every day in a variety of weathers. As the children may get dirty and wet during these sessions, outdoor learning clothes should be kept in school all week (including wellies, hat and gloves/sunhat, old trousers, old warm top/fleece, waterproof coat and trousers).

On the days that the children have PE, they should wear their PE uniform:

  • Plain red t-shirt.
  • Plain black shorts.
  • Plain black, white or grey socks.
  • Plain black trainers or plimsolls.
  • Plain black tracksuit bottoms or jogging bottoms for cold weather.

Watches

  • Children can wear an analogue or digital watch. Although we encourage children to wear watches in school to help them to learn to tell the time, children are not allowed to wear ‘smart’ watches, or any watch that has the same functionality as a mobile phone.

Jewellery

  • Children are allowed to wear one pair of small, plain, stud earrings.
  • Earrings should be removed or taped over for PE lessons.
  • No other jewellery is allowed (such as necklaces or friendship bands).

Hair

  • Long hair should be tied back.
  • Small, plain hair bands, scrunchies, clips, ribbons, bobbles or beads may be worn in the school colours of red, black or white.  No large hair accessories.
  • No lines, shapes or carvings shaved into the hair.
  • Shaved or partly shaved hair must be at least grade 2 in length.
  • The way our hair is worn may be culturally significant. All hair in its natural form, or worn in a culturally traditional way, is appropriate at Bidbury. This includes natural Afro hairstyles (including cornrows, locs, afros, twists, braids and bantu knots). Bobbles, bands or beads may be worn in the school colours of red, black or white.
  • For medical reasons, children may choose or need to wear wigs or hair coverings.

 General

  • No nail varnish, temporary tattoos or make up.

Uniform assistance

The school may be able to support families that are currently eligible for Free School Meals in meeting the costs of school uniforms or by providing good quality second hand uniform.  Parents/carers should contact our Home School Link Worker for advice.

Parents/carers are invited to donate their child’s uniform when they no longer need it.

Pre-loved school uniform is available from our online school uniform shop, Uniformerly.
